2013-01-07 // Annual Review 2012
Year 2012 is behind us and I think, even if I say that every year, it was a year with a lot of fun, hard work and new places involved. I focused more on EFPT tour and it was worth it... I got 5th in overall and I'm super happy with my result.
It was the best so far so how I wouldn't be. I organized three really cool windsurf camps around the globe and finished few video and travel projects... After a bussy year it was time to relax and have some fun with friends... But it wasn't just time off... it was also work for another video project, so actually fun :D. I visited Brazil for the third time and it was as always, great. Windy almost every day, warm and really good conditions to »own« all the newest moves. My level got higher for sure, as I sailed with the best riders, that's why I can't wait to hit the water and show some skills :).
But before that I will have a longer brake... Get into winter a bit more, make all the plans for events, windsurf camps and get fully ready for 2013. Till next time...

2012-11-05 //Rick Jendrusch wins 7th at EFPT in France
After my 17th place in Sylt by the PWA I was really in form, I get also 1st on the Dutch Championships by the youth under 20. And Last week I was in France for the second stop of the EFPT were I end on the 7th place! So last time I get some nice results in the pocket! We had some really hard conditions. It was always full power or nothing!
It was the first time I was here in France and I really liked it. In the single elimination I had not that good start I end on the 9th place, but in the double I was on fire. I won 4 heats in a row. I think my hardest heat was against Julian Mas he is in the top 10 of the PWA but I won from him and I was into the next round against Davy Scheffers, There was the point were I lost. I had one of my best heats but it was not enough to beat Davy, it was still super close. But I’m really happy with my result! I end on the 7th place and that’s pretty good for my first EFPT result! So I’m super happy with that.
Now we drive to England for the last EFPT stop, that will be from 3 till 6 november. I travel with Dieter van der Eyken my teammate from Severne. I hope I can even improve my overall result there. The forecast looks good and we can have also such a good event as here in France.

2012-10-22 // Last PWA World cup events of the year. Klitmøller and Sylt.
The two last PWA World cup events of the year is completed, and now I only have the Danish championships and maybe the Redbull Stormchase left to do before my winter training can begin.
The PWA World Cup in Klitmøller was once again a great success and it was a privileged for me to be able to compete against the best of the world on my home spot. The conditions weren’t as good as the past two years, but neither the less we sailed a full double elimination.
The first day of the contest the wind was really light, but it came from a sideshore direction, and there was some head high sets coming through. In my first heat I was seeded through to second round and was against Pozo local Omar Sanchez.
Because the wind was so light I was really struggling to keep upwind, where the best waves were and therefore I spend to much time of the heat just trying to get up there. In the end I didn’t pic up any good waves and that resulted in me loosing the heat. That meant for the first time of the year I was out, and all the way back to the first heat in the double elimination.

2012-09-25//Andraz Zan in Lesvos
After the EFPT competition I stayed in Lesvos for a bit less than one month. It was windy almost every day and I had perfect conditions to train for next competition which will take place in France... The most interesting thing was the wave spot we checked one day...
Despite bad wind I scored quite big and nice waves- onshore conditions. Beside training I also organized a windsurf camp there from 2. till 11. September and it was just great. Windy every day and students were very very motivated so I had a great fun with teaching again. Now I am back home in Slovenia, preparing for next project which will be so amazing that I can’t even imagine, so stay tuned!
2012-09-03 // Pozo 2012
Short surf trip to Pozo with good morning and evening sessions by Bernie Sievie
2012-08-20 // Andraž Žan - The last few month ...
After very cool camp on Rhodes(thanks again everyone for such a great time), I flew to Fuerteventura for the PWA competition… From the beginning of the trip till the end I had bad luck every day… First my equipment didn't arrive, then my new board which was sent to me to Fuerte, was totally damaged, not sailable, so I had to borrow it from my team riders( thanks to Jendrush and Paternina !!
The wind was very light and I didn't feel comfortable on new gear which I was not used to it, so I didn't do what i can… There was also some confusion with the accommodation so in 10days I changed the accommodation 5 times which was very stressful… the motivation dropped which was reflecting in the result at the end… Ok I said… what doesn't kill you it makes you stronger they say… I flew with Davy Scheffers to Holland, stayed 5 days at his place( big thanks to his mom, dad, dog and of course Davy for hospitality) and caught a really nice evening session before departure to Greece.
Those 5 days were really great, I got back the motivation and start to think different on competition… Before I realized it , we were in Sigri, Lesvos, unpacked and ready to rock! Sigri is the best place I have been to in Greece. Peaceful, beautiful, locals are super friendly, the sailing is amazing when it is windy, and you have unbelivable sunsets, so what can you wish more? Two days of rest and then EFPT competition started… The forecast was very tricky, so we were all scared it won't be windy, but luckily the wind kicked in and we had great conditions…. In first single I started really good. Switch both sides and every heat I added more power moves which was enough to win against Nikos Athanasiou, Adam Gavriel, and Adrian Beholz. Third place it was in the single and I was super happy. We started the double, but we couldn't really finish it the same day, so next day we went on.
The wind was still good and we saw really good action from everyone. I was waiting for my opponent and it was Adrian again. We both started very good, but the wind started to be very inconsistent and nuclear in the gusts… 5.2 was obviously too much. One move kept me from winning the heat again, so I ended up on 4th place this time. Still happy and motivated to go for another single elimination. The conditions were still good, so we proceeded with another single elimination. I had to come up again… I won the first two heats, then I was against the Russian Yakovlev who was clubbing up really fast with very good performance.
I knew what I have to do and I had an amazing heat with double moves, power moves and switch both sides so I advanced in the next heat which was against Davy Scheffers who was leading the event. I opened the heat with double moves and burner but as the wind started to get gusty again I lost the concentration, not to forget that Davy was ripping the whole heat with the newest moves in freestyle. I saved some energy and he advanced. Next heat was the losers finals, I had to go against Adrian again. I was dead already but still fighting and doing my best. It was not enough for third place. We finished the single and the wind dropped so we couldn't finish the double elimination. Great competition which I finished on 4th position at the end and it is my best result so far…
At the moment I am still in Sigri, training for next event and preparing for the clinic which will take place on 2.9. here in Sigri, Lesvos, so everyone is welcome to join!

2012-07-27 // Tenerife World Cup 2012
The second Wave World Cup of the year is now finished and I'm back home in Klitmøller, where my preparations for the next World Cup already have begun.
Tenerife was a great event, and delivered some good conditions most of the time. Sometimes the conditions was a bit tricky and change very fast so that was a bit frustrating, and stressful to compete in.
In the single elimination I was seeded through to the first round and was against my good friend and room mate Jamie Hancock. So the battle was on and it was a must win heat. The first day of the competition the conditions was quite good but just as our heat started the wind dropped a lot, so half way in the heat, head judge Duncan Combs decided to cancel the heat. The wind never retuned so we were in first heat the following day.

2012-07-12 // World Cup Gran Canary 2012
The World Cup on Gran Canary finished last week in the windiest conditions I ever sailed. I had to borrow a 3.4 to be able to sail some of my heats. The wind was guesting up to 60 knots at times and everyone was struggling to sail straight. Gran Canary was the first Wave World Cup of the year and it was great to see how the level again this year was super high.
I have spent most of the winter in South Africa training for this season, and when I got back to Denmark I got a personal trainer that has been helping me to optimize my workout in the gym. He made a specific program for me that worked on all my weak points, and at the same time he fine tuned my diet, so my body had the best conditions to improve. This way I can help prevent injuries and make sure my fitness level is the best it can be.

Last weekend the Redbul soulwave event took place in Klitmøller. The event had been gone for a few years, but came back stronger than ever this year. The event had both windsurfing and SUP'ing in the contest and in the end there would be an overall winner of both disciplines.
I only did the windsurfing part, as I haven't spend that much time on a SUP. The first day of the contest didn't provide any wind or waves, so everyone was just chilling at the event side. The second day was a different story. In the morning the SUP contest started in Klitmøller bay, and the conditions was looking quite good. Around 12 o'clock the wind was getting to strong, and the SUP was put on a hold, and the windsurf contest got started. The conditions was just improving through out the day, and in the final the conditions was at it's best for wave riding.I managed to get all the way to the final, along with Klaas Voget, Leon Jamaer and Mads Bjørnå.
All three of them was sailing really well, and I knew I couldn't afford to make any mistakes, if I wanted to win. Luckily I had my best heat of the day in the final, and when they announced me as the winner I was super stoked. The last day of the event they finished the SUP contest, and wining that was my PLASMA team mate Casper Steinfath. Leon Jamaer took the overall title of the contest. Big congrats to him and well done. Two days after the event we had a really windy session at Hanstholm. I was stacked on my 3.7 and just struggling to sail straight. After the session I went home and packed all my stuff, then slept 2 hours, got up and drove to the airport in Hamburg, and caught a plane to Gran Canary. It's super windy here and the first day on the water I was once again stacked on my 3.7. The PWA world cup is starting on Monday, and all the World cup sailers are starting to arrive.

This year, he finished the first event of the season at Reggio Calabria in 17th position and the second event in South Korea in 19th position and he even made it into a losers final once. At the moment he is ranked as the 19th best PWA slalom sailor.

Phil Richards and Danielle Lucas spent the weekend at the UKWA West Kirby Freestyle competition. The wind was light and so the UKWA had organized a Jet ski for a tow in competition. After half an hour warm up Phil was landing massive funnels and burners. During the competition the wind had increased a small amount and changed direction making it more challenging for the pro fleet to land their tricks but they all managed to get some big moves and it was a very close competition. Phil did a perfect burner almost sliding into a 900, and then also a huge air funnel to follow that!
Overall Phil came 3rd, a great start to the year, we are all hoping for more wind at the next event! This event made great practice and we are looking forward to heading over to Austria for the 1st stop on the PWA Freestyle tour.

First I was not sure if I will be able to reach the kicker, but somehow I did and went for high cheeseroll. In the finals I didn't have much speed...anyway I reached the kicker again and jumped into back loop. I came first in WTF discipline because everyone sure thought wtf is this guy thinking- sail, snowboard :P ? It was great fun. Water was freezing cold but adrenalin was warming us up all day :) . So 1 day on snow for 2011/12 season – checked.

The F2 Barracuda 77 was the perfect combo for this tirp and gave me lots of fun.
Unfortunately, some material broke down, precisely two poles and three sails.“ (PS: In the Region Margaret lives a good sailmaker names JamesJ)
